Meet Gary Whitehead, Auto Lending Expert
Gary Whitehead was born and raised in the Alleghany Highlands and joined our lending team 4 years ago after working in the auto industry for 30 years. He knows the ins and outs of auto lending and purchasing and has brought his expertise to his position as Loan Officer.
“I help take care of all credit and loan applications, but car loans are my specialty,” says Gary. “I take care of all indirect lending for new and used car loans with 10 local dealers throughout Alleghany Highlands and Lewisburg, West Virginia.”
We build relationships with individuals as well as our auto dealer partners to make sure customers know they have the option for direct, local lending. He wants people to request to apply for the community bank’s loan rather than a big bank who will send their application off to a remote location for review by strangers. It’s a message that Gary has played a big role in spreading.
“We work directly with the dealers to review and approve loan applications, but the relationship doesn’t stop there,” says Gary. “We want you to come into your local branch to process your transaction or have the option to process them online.”

At the end of the day, Gary feels he’s been successful when he can help a customer buy their first car or home and begin a long lasting relationship. It’s something he hopes to continue doing until he retires.
