For the past 7 years, Highlands Community Bank customers in Covington have been greeted by Nikki Lowry, one of the many smiling faces at our branch.
Nikki currently works as the Teller Supervisor at the branch, providing support to our team of tellers as well as our customers throughout the day. On an average day at the Bank, Nikki services customers on the teller line and manages transaction reports, the ATM, and the vault.
“I like the atmosphere of this bank,” says Nikki. “I love that I can get to know customers personally and build relationships with each other. We know each other’s families and neighbors, so it’s really personal. My work is more than just doing transactions. “
Nikki added that when she had her daughter two years ago, many of her regulars reached out to stay in touch while she was not working in the branch.
When Covid-19 sent the Alleghany Highlands into lockdown, the leadership at Highlands Community Bank was quick to respond to keep their employees safe, while still providing customers with access to their accounts. While it meant that Nikki and her team would no longer be face to face with their customers, they worked hard to make sure that didn’t hinder their relationships.
“It’s always harder servicing through the drive-thru because you don’t have the opportunity for those side conversations,” says Nikki. “You have to keep the line moving.”
Needless to say, the team is looking forward to welcoming customers back into the branch when the time is right.
In her free time, Nikki spends time with her husband and 2-year-old daughter enjoying the community, attending church, and volunteering with the Post 92 American Legion Auxilliary in Hot Springs, VA.
